Location: Dallas. I just received my fully restored Marantz 2230. It was fully recapped and was tuned and re soldered by a master. It is incredible and I have to say even the big iron old Marantz receivers I have heard have yet to bring so much joy and pleasure. I already have 2 2230's in good condition but they don't sound anything like this.

Long story made short, the new Elna Silmic II and WIMA capacitors made this 2230 perform even better than the designers at Marantz could've hoped for - they didn't have components this good back then. If you only recap the P800, P700 L&R, and the P400 Tone board, you'll instantly know you've made an improvement.

Marantz 2230 and 2275 FM Alignment. I'm pretty good at alignments and fairly well equipped for it, but these two have me stumped. They work OK and mostly align, but the point of maximum signal strength, center tuning and best stereo is all different. The 2230 is so bad I'm sure something is wrong.
