My Audiolab 8000A has just developed a fault. I get a constant low output from the volume control position. I've control the volume with the remote control of the CD source. So, one day, some components of the circuit burned and no tecnical support are avaiabla because the constructor is out.

It's a fairly simple mod to the 8000A to separate the pre and power amp sections. You can then connect them externally via an RCA lead, and could even place a new component between the pre and power sections - like a line level remote volume box. interesting thanks. worth considering if I can find such a device. Having owned the Audiolab 8000A series III for a number of years I can give, I hope, a reasonably accurate account of it. I bought it at the time for its accuracy - being partnered with a mildly warm Philips CD850 and mildly forward Tannoy 613's. In reality, it is mildly coloured. Mid range is slightly forward and hi treble is rolled back.

Hopefully someone can help me here, I have an Audiolab 8000a which has a couple of problems. On switch on there is a humming noise coming from the speakers but is more evident on the phono input, when switching the CD player on the music will come out of the CD input at normal volume and at very low volume on every other input.
