Audiolab replaced it with a brand new unit which I was happy about. Anyway, the new unit worked fine to begin with but ran extremely hot (I'm talking electric heater hot). After a few months of use, the unit started to produce a very loud crackle though the right channel every 10 mins or so.

Worthful as a 2nd amp. Weakness: slightly lack of bass & punchy, bass not deep enough, poor quality of the connector/plug, need to turn >9'o clock in order to reveal the sound. I had bought the 2nd hand Audiolab 8000A at RM 1200 (~USD 340) in Malaysia about 2 months ago.

Audiolab sounds surprisingly clear and airy. The scene is unusually voluminous and full of air. Middle and high frequencies are especially delightful and amaze by their clarity and extra high resolution of the finest music details. The sounds of brass wind instruments without slightest hints on any distortion. But we found fails here.
