I can't really say that the 8000s is better than the Cyrus, but it is different, so it's up to personal choice. At first it sounded absolutely awful with very harsh highs but it smoothed out with time and with my Monster M1 cables feeding into my B&W P6 speakers. This is a very high end product that is very dependant on the rest of your equipment.

One annoying thing about the 8000A is the cheap connectors at the back for interconnects. They are gold plated but not of good quality. One day I will upgrade them to the same type as found on the 8000S. Also the speaker connectors are not that great and again something like the ones found on the 8000S will be much better.

You've got a great amp there. Audiolab was a no-frills company so the casing looks cheaper than some of its competitor, but taking the lid off reveals a well designed and high quality PCB. It should last 20 years. Leaving it on is probably best, unless there's a lightning storm nearby in which case unplug it completely.
