Audiolab M-DAC is, IMO, best among Rega DAC, MF M1 DAC, Pioneer N-50 (which is a streamer + DAC). However the pre-amp section is really the weak link. It is there to give the added flexibility but will never match any true pre-amp. With M-DAC as DAC+pre you loose depth, dynamics and soundstage.. alot.
