It's zippy fast if your USB is almost empty (eg holds 4GB or less). But if you fill it with 16GB of mp3 files, then the radio freezes for 10+ minutes to read the USB, and that's ridiculously long, so I gave up on USB. Btw, USB 2.0 or 3.0 suffer same slowness. Instead, I use an ipod classic on long road trips.
