The 192 has a 192khz sample rate (no supported by PT) while the 2496 goes to 96khz. the 192 also has a monitor out which I don't use because I monitor through my board. They are both advertised as 4 in and 4 out but that includes the S/PDIF I/O. If you want 4 analog ins and outs you will need an external AD/DA. I have one on order right now.
24/96 vs 24/192 - General Forum - Audiophile Style

I created downsampled versions of 24/192, 24/176.4 and 24/96 files and compared the various downsampled versions to the originals as well as to each other. If you can easily detect the difference between 24/96 and 16/44.1, then I suspect that 24/192 will be a further improvement, but I'm afraid that's only a guess.

The Audiophile 2496 is still going strong with its 24-bit/96kHz-capable converters, and is now even more of a bargain at its new price of £69.99. Meanwhile, it's been joined by the Audiophile 192, which meets the same basic needs, but in an altogether more sophisticated way.
M-Audio Audiophile 192 Professional Sound Card

The "Audiophile" name was succeeded from the previous model, Audiophile 2496. But nevertheless this product is not intended for audiophiles. Balanced TRS connectors and the Delta series indicate that Audiophile 192 is a modern and affordable professional sound card for a home/project sound studio. A single PC can host up to four such cards.
