The FU29 power tubes in this amp are directly equivalent to type 829 and 3E29 tubes, 829 and 3E29's are drop-in replacements, plug-and-play. You can buy nice vintage RCA or GE 829s for about $20 each! If you know tubes, then you know that this is really really low cost for a vintage, quality output tube in an audio amplifier.

The original Audioromy FU29 had plastic plate caps and these have crumbled, I put on ceramic ones. (I think the new design uses ceramic plate caps.) No other problems after a couple of years of use. He's since replaced the Polk RT25is' with PSB B1's and he reports they sound similarly good.

The highs from the Audioromy FU29 had real good detail, and silky sparkle - yet were not etched sounding or sibilance-exaggerating. It had "modern tube amp sound" compared to the venerable Dynaco. SO: this is a pretty good sounding amp, and with the right speakers will give you what you look to a tube amp to provide. Looks nice, too.

i am running a fu29 4 tube Cayun 590 thru some antique Maggie 2a's(which i rebuilt) and with great results. i have been through numerous amps including a Classe' DR 10 (transistor) and other EL34 amps.i have never seen such tubes and immeditelly put the cage back on when i viewed them!Sorry but this fu29 amp blows everything out of the state ...
