Pro audio amps like the QSC, Crown or Crest (like I use to run my Polk rti150s) can provide lots of cheap power AND sound great. You might want to check your local area for music supply house that rents equipment. Take one (or two) amps home for the night and give 'em a spin before you buy. If your looking for a decent amp at a decent price to power your speakers give this amp a try. You will need a good preamp to bring out the most of this amp, although some people have had good results without the preamp. I use this amp with the Audiosource Preamp/Tuner 2 and it works really well. Similar Products Used: Hafler DH-220 [Jan 03, 2004]

I have the Amp One (early version of Amp Two) and it's doing fine (driving plain stereo). It's a nice little beginners power amp. For a sub, especially a tempest, look for something with a bit more power. Try the Samson S700 (SVS uses them). Or the plate amps (which is a good idea too, since they're only $130 apiece at 250 watts).
