The cruise control can use either a magnetic pickup (magnets and coil) at the rear wheel or engine RPM from a tach signal or coil wire. I tested it with a coil wire attachment to the #1 coil and it functioned properly but I decided to use the speed sensor at the rear wheel (personal preference, actual speed vs engine RPM).

I've installed an Audiovox cruise control on my RF900 and took it out for a test ride and.....nothing!!! All wires check out, vacuum, checks out, did the troubleshoot according to the Audiovox install manual, and the only conclusion I can come up with is that I'm not getting a proper tach signal to the servo.

The red wire with a fuse holder in it goes to the battery side of the brake switch (hot side). From there it goes to a 4 pin plug in the cruise harness (Outside cavity). The other side of the 4 pin plug is for the cruise lever. The red wire matches to the red wire in the cruise lever harness and feeds the lever with 12 volts.
