I've just upgraded to Avid Xpress Pro 5.7.2 from version 4.6 - the old version worked, but now I get the 'failed to initialize audio hardware' message when i try to open avid. I'm on a PC. AMD Athlon 64 processor 3000+, 2.01 GHz, 2.25GB RAM, Windows XP Pro, Service pack 2, and I have a Realtek AC97 audio driver.

And check the bios to make sure no onboard audio cards are enabled. You may also be able to disable onbaoard cards within “Device Manager”.
