As I recall, the only audio card Xpress DV would play nice with was the Audigy mp3 sound card. I kept one installed just so Avid would run, although I never used it. Have you considered stepping up to Media Composer? It's well worth it.

I have Realtek Sound card. Does Composer not support certain sound cards? I should mention, i export files just perfect after captruing through media composer and the audio will play normally. I also noticed, that under "Audio Project" in settings, the hardware card is "Blackmagic & 1394 audio" and there is no other drop down option.
