Pro Tools 11 stuck on "Initializing Audio Engine" - Avid ...

I then installed the drivers for my Presonus Firestudio Project and installed Quicktime and iTunes. Then I installed Pro Tools 11.1.1 using the files I downloaded from their website (and I installed all the codecs and drivers too). Every time I try start Pro Tools, I get stuck on the "Initializing Audio Engine" part and nothing happens.

Perhaps a "long shot" but if you have a nVidia GFX card, go to the nVidia Control Panel menu for "manual control" of .exe programs. If necessary, add the Avid Xpress program .exe to the list, then click on Xpress Pro in that list. Enter Xpress Pro's settings and make sure to DEactivate "Enable Threaded Optimization."
Xpress Pro 5.7 hangs initializing audio - Avid Community

Both systems have versions of Xpress Pro 5.7, but when I tried to open program on laptop, it hung on "Initializing Open GL". I inserted installation CD and tried repair; then tried re-install and finally installed the newer of the two versions, purchased for the PC, onto the laptop. Now, it is hanging on "Initializing Audio"
