The 2.6.4 audio problem for me was AviDemux settings, nothing to do with audio in the file. Every time I opened a file, no audio. I finally looked in Edit, Preferences, Audio, and AudioDevice was DUMMY, which I changed to Win32. Avidemux is now using libmplex for maximum compliance. If you use Mpeg Video as output format, only the raw video elementary stream will be saved. That means there will be no audio and that it is not suitable for VCD/SVCD/DVD authoring. You have to save the audio only (using audio-save) and use mplex or tcmplex to rebuild a mpeg PS stream.
