The 2.6.4 audio problem for me was AviDemux settings, nothing to do with audio in the file. Every time I opened a file, no audio. I finally looked in Edit, Preferences, Audio, and AudioDevice was DUMMY, which I changed to Win32. This kept recurring file after file that I opened, until finally the setting stuck, and I now get audio.

Lord Smurf recommended AviDemux (AD) program to cut unwanted segments from a video file, then save the edited file (like you would with a WAV sound file on Sound Forge ). I downloaded AviDemux and am happy to report it works great! My captured files are in .ts format, and AviDemux allows me to save my edited file in the same .ts (or other) format.

Avidemux can handle one (and only one) audio stream from mpeg. by its mpeg (sub) stream id. It is C0--c7 for mpeg audio (.mpg, vcd,...), A0--A7 for PCM audio, and 0--7 for AC3 audio.
