The sound on the a550 is better than anything from a few years back. I replaced a 2003 RCA tv with the a550 and let me teel you that the a550's sound blows the RCA's away, it's not even comparable. With some tweaking in the audio menu the sound is actually really pretty good for standard out of the box TV speakers.

The question I asked was if I would regret not owning an LCD with 120HZ. I didn't compare the Toshiba to the Samsung A650 because it has a glossy screen. At this point I'm still undecided. Everyone who owns a A550 or XF550 are very happy with there sets. The only complaint I've seen is with the sound quality on the A550.

Yep it is the same the series the thread is refering to. I ordered the 40" from Dixons for £849.99 ($1671). I'm have a few doubts about whether it was worth spending the money for the new series or if I should have gone for the predecessor. You just missed out on the deals they were doing at Dixon's by one day.

BB will Price match any authorized Samsung dealer. You have to look on Samsung's sight to see who is an authorized dealer. Amazon IS an authorized Samsung dealer. They will take into accound tax and shipping but with Amazon the shipping is often free. I bought my old Samsung DLP at BB, price matched to Amazon and saved over 400.

FuzzyReets. You are correct - both standard ARC and Optical support all the audio formats you mentioned. The only real difference re audio formats is that most ARC connections (all but the really old ones) can also carry DD+ which offers 7.1 or atmos, but that doesn't affect you with the Samsung HW-A650.
