In my original list of 9 Basic Audio pedals I chose the Tri/Ram over the Alter-Destiny, but when time came to acquire one I read somewhere that John regarded the Alter-Destiny as the Muff equivalent of his Scarab Deluxe - and with 5 knobs plus a 3-way mids boost switch - that was the one I went with at the time.
