The Panasonic BD30 (which cannot internally decode lossless codecs) can bitstream DD (5.1) via HDMI or S/PDIF if the user chooses the bitstream option with secondary audio on. For 7.1 PCM or when 'PCM' is chosen for output it will downmix to 5.1 PCM via HDMI and 2.0 via S/PDIF. Sampling frequency is "converted to 48kHz". See p.21 of the manual.
