Go to Settings/Sound Settings/Audio Output Settings on the XMB. Leave the "Select the connector..." setting alone and click to the right. Select the manual option and click to the right. On the "Select the output format..." screen, scroll down and uncheck all of the Linear PCM 7.1 boxes and click to the right.

lokostilll posted... My demo didnt have sound either but when I switched ps3 audio from 5.1 dolby digital to regular2 channel, it worked, My guess is the demo does not support surround sound.
