We changed the audio outputs in the Audio Menu of the Blu Ray player. Same result. We then setup the TV audio settings so that the audio would play through the TV's speakers. Same distortion. Next up, we played videos from the USB source, which is connected to a small external hard drive. Perfect sound.

The affected Blu-ray discs play fine on another laptop and home-theater Blu-ray player so it's not the discs. The affected YouTube videos play fine on a laptop. It's got to be a driver issue or conflict of some kind. I hooked up an Asus external USB Blu-ray player to rule out a problem with the internal LG.

Persistent "crackling" (i.e. distortion) in audio when playing Blu Ray discs. Changing audio mode doesn't fix problem.
