The AUX mode is now the fourth option (radio, single CD, changer AUX). As Muudy says, there are separate audio options for the AUX input, including Level. As far as location, I use close to the same set-up as Chief, only slightly to the driver side. It does not interfere with the lighter with my standard 3.5mm plug.
