Contrary to their name, Booklice don't actually eat books, but rather the mold and fungus inside the books! This poem begins with an account of a book louse and how he spends the early days of its life in different books: born in a fine old edition of (a work by) Schiller; going on to live in a "private eye thriller"; and spend his youth in (a book by) Agatha Christie.

Homesteading Booklice (poem) by Odin Roark on AuthorsDen

    https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewpoetry.asp?AuthorID=88864&id=358492
A very unique poem. With one interesting light shed. The idea that all of those "slummy" motel rooms off abandoned highways can serve as a place for the homeless to finally find refuge, homesteading of sort. And reading material if they wish it. Bugs included. Yes, Gideon sure was busy providing homes for booklice to move in on.
