I have a problem with varying sound quality, every couple of minutes (ish) the sound changes from hearty, deep, quality sound to weak distant feeble sound and then back again. Unplug the Zone 1 digital audio cable from the back of the Lifestyle system. Unplug the power cable from the back of the Lifestyle system. Wait a couple minutes. Replug in the audio cable, then plug in the power again. The system will do a reset then power off again. Push the ON button. Audio should be restored.

There is an issue with this Bose Lifestyle Media Center AV38 in which the sound cuts off (no sound out of the speakers) after playing for a while. The sound will usually come back on after the unit has been turned off and allowed to cool. We have a repair for this Bose Lifestyle Media Center problem.

I have had a problem develop recently with my Lifestyle 38 (well, I've had several problems, but I can't solve this one). When I'm watching TV and the Lifestyle unit is broadcasting in PCM 2.0 mode, my rear surround speakers have a distorted sound on some channels, and no sound on others. The front speakers and bass module sound fine.

The mediocre sound, lack of control, and problems such as yours on 70% of the 'systems' installed, along with the countless hours of troubleshooting a completely idiotic design for free, has left me with a less than favorible impression of Bose. In all fairness, Bose has a BIG name. The marketing department has done an excellent job.
