If the volume control of your cambridge audio azur receiver behaves strangely ( like just VOL MIN and VOL MAX available ), then most likely the problem is in the EEPROM that keeps the user settings ( 540r V2 schematics shows it as IC12 ) the chip model is atmel 24c01(2). Get the chip replaced, reset the unit and you will have a working AVR again.
