I just picked up the Cambridge Audio DV89 to use as a universal player for the occassional movie but primarily for SACD and DVD-Audio playback. I am going to purhcase the Cambridge Audio 740C as a compact disc player. Does anyone have any opinion, input or compared this to others regarding playback quality of this device for high resolution music?

I am experiencing a fairly serious problem with a Cambridge Audio DVD89. I use this strictly as a universal player for SACD and DVD-Audio. The unit is having problems reading SACD and it appears to be getting progressively worse. Last night it failed to read the SACD layer 11 out of 12 times.

Ok, heard from cambridge audio tech support this morning and they're getting one of these screens in to check it out with the DVD89. They have already had three other instances of problems with this combination of screen and player, so they are looking into this and when they get some more info they're gonna call me back and let me know whats going on.

Cambridge Audio? My SACD player broke (Sony SCD-CE775) after about eight or nine years. It can't read the SACD layer on Hybrid CD/SACD discs any more. A common problem, from what I've read. I tried everything, cleaning the lens, blowing out the dust, calling Sony. I give up. I have a backup Sony SCD-CD595, but it's definitely a step down in sound.
