Massive tends to have a very in-your-face sound that some feel can be too dominating in a mix. It works great for me, but I use it for upfront type sounds anyway. Alchemy, on the other hand, can easily act as either a dominant synth, or as a supporting sound source. Honestly, I suggest buying them both, if you can afford it.

I think Massive sounds better, but Alchemy is much more versatile, because you can load your own samples, use multisampled SFZ format, do granular sampling, or additive/spectral resynthesis os samples.
