The 8000a is a nice looking amp (the design is still used today), very sleek and "industrial". The flat casing has only a small opening for the cooling, and heat killed most of these amps. The preamp stage could be separated by a official modification, for which you needed a knife :-) .

Having owned the Audiolab 8000A series III for a number of years I can give, I hope, a reasonably accurate account of it. I bought it at the time for its accuracy - being partnered with a mildly warm Philips CD850 and mildly forward Tannoy 613's. In reality, it is mildly coloured. Mid range is slightly forward and hi treble is rolled back.

Audiolab 8000A burnt components. Hello. I want to fix an Audiolab 8000A. It's the PCB version 207 016 Issue 3. Some of the components are completely blown. Close to the transistor 2SC2922 (number 36) is the diode 1N4002 but I cannot identify the values of the 2 resistors. Another resistor is blown close to the ZTX transistor heatsink.

This is for the combo audiolab 8000C & 8000P bought used. A few years ago I ,after trying out and owning a nice bunch of amps (many of them british), got my hands om an 8000A mkII, wich then absolutely blew my mind. In my opinion a true performer with excellent clear sound and nice "slam" - given it's price.
