I'm facing a scenario where I would like to disable the automatic audio pass-through in MediaCodecAudioRenderer without having to override a bunch of components. But it seems there's no flag that I can toggle to turn off this behavior. My scenario is running the ExoPlayer demo app on a low-end set-top box running Android 7.1.2 (not Android TV).

Honestly I did not expected any measurable difference at all, just by switching between different audio renderers or different player software, but decreasing maximum output seems like a logical step for preserving audio quality. And following this, I would not be surprised if older version of Foobar might behave differently.

ReClock was orignally developed for TV output to a large CRT screen, however with the advent of progressive LCD screens this function is not as important as bypassing the Kmixer (XP) or running applications in exlcusive mode (Vista). 4) For any PC running multiple soundcards (I run 3), ReClock's control panel is a must.

Whether or not you like the sound of a certain file format is irrelevant. Paying to access better sound is. MQA audio quality is really hidden behind a pay wall. Which is why it may sound 'worse' since it will be limited to lower bit depth and sample rate. If you're ok at CD quality audio at 16-bit 44.1khz that's absolutely fine.
