You may end saving some money. Quadlink 5c is good as well and minimum acceptable to my ears. Cross has better high frequency extension, but more of the same Cardas sound. Quadlink 5c, a litte too warm depending on context. Cardas is just quality stuff, the Mercedes of cable. Cable companies come and go, but Cardas sticks around.

I tried a Cardas Quadlink 5C as well and wasn't as impressed. I clearly preferred the 300B. I guess it has something of a warm and tubey character, just as you say, taoster. Some even seem to feel that the 300B is the most musical design in the entire Cardas line.

Quadlink 5C offers much cleaner upper bass, more open midrange and more extended, airier treble, and its sound is altogether more refined than the Hexlink. At the time Quadlink was introduced, the top-of-the line Cardas was Hexlink 5 Golden, followed by Hexlink 5. Then, Hexlink 5C Golden and Hexlink 5C were improved versions of these. Original Hexlink 5 Golden was very dark blue. Hexlink 5C Golden was very dark brown (almost black with a slight brownish/golden shade). Hexlink 5C was black.
