Audio Enthusiast Weakness: none This is a review of the Cary SLP-94 as an upgrade from the SLP-90. This pre-amp, with it's built in phono stage alwasy had good sound. At the time I bought it for about $2400 it was pretty unique in having exposed tubes in a chrome body. I had compared it to others and liked it best for the reasons mentioned above.

Not widely reviewed, but the Cary SLP-03 is one damn fine preamp. Fabulous tube sound without the fuss. With the SLP-05 as its stellar big brother, I think this gets wrongly overlooked. Great value. Pairs extremely well with my NHT 2.2 Xd system. The Xd is an amazing system, very revealing, and the Cary does a great job of balancing out the sound.

Excellent condition Cary CPA1 preamplifier. Balanced inputs and outputs, dual mono design, HT bypass, built like a tank. This piece has been in my system for a while and it's the best sounding solid-state preamp I've ever owned. You literally get the Cary "tube sound" without the tubes.
