there all pretty different sets.. the CDT is transparent, the drt 26s and the es6 are a great set.. the focal is a great set as well, but the tweeters are just to brite to be considered musical(the new t52 and t53 are nice thought) the midbass is very nice thought.. the IDs are a great set the tweeter isn't quite as nice as the drt26 but its great and the midbass is very nice …

second point...Focal and CDT are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Focal is typically considered a very bright speaker, and to many people, harsh. Some people like this sound, others don't. It is all dependent on your ear. CDT is a mellower sound. They're known for their silk tweeters which never get harsh or bright.

I'd vote focal, the CDT's will sound warmer but, the polyglass (basing this off the 165VR) will be clearer, easier to image, and a little more efficient, You will probably have to turn the tweeter down to keep it from being harsh though.

Discussion Starter · #1 · 8 mo ago (Edited) I just purchased 2 sets of Focal ES 165K2 Components because my old Eurosport CDT's are starting to crackle a little. I installed one Focal 6.5 and tweeter. I've been doing an A/B test in my truck for about a day now.

I've been looking at CDT Audio speakers a lot lately. They have a TON of different speakers. Even "unique" things like 6.5" subs (actual subwoofers that go in a typical 6.5" midbass location). Just lots and lots of variety. They are having a sale right now where a lot of their speakers are on sale for $99 a pair.
