Citypulse Audio DA2.03e II vs. Benchmark USB DAC1. ... Yeah with lots of USB dacs out there now it's perhaps a box and connection more than necessary these days but it sounds good to me. No preamp for me, I run a modded Trends 10.1 as a power amp only, using Endler attenuators to control volume. Just picked up a NuForce Icon also and will see ...

DA2.03e has [crippled] usb input, two oversampling options, and i'm not quite sure but the headphone amp looks somewhat different compared to the DA7.2x. And so far, i haven't experienced any of the problems that were reported with the early DA7.2x that prompt some modding of the clock or the caps or whatever.

Fehlt eigentlich nur noch das Ölkännchen ;-)

I've never actually heard the Citypulse though so you might want to take this with a grain of salt. Also, the majority of what I've read has been on the 7.2x. It's supposedly the same dac without USB but with XLR outputs. Personally, I'd go with the 7.2x and buy a sound card with a digital out with the money I saved over the 2.03e.

The easiest way to simplify my audio setup would be to get a USB DAC/amp, for about $100-300 and get rid of the X-Fi and receiver. However, I then lose nice little gaming things, like EAX and whatnot.
