open cmus press 7 to go to the settings page, find 'output_plugin' in the settings. By default on the pi, it seems to be set to alsa, which works for me, another common setting would be pulse. Config "errors" are caused by the fact that you have config files from newer version of cmus. Output plugin one — probably because you have not specified which output plugins to use, please do.
