Our problem is the new Xfinity box is digital and has no audio plugs (the old box from Dish had audio in/out plugs). We purchased a 4K x 2K HDMI to HDMI and Optical TOSLINK SPDIF + 3.5mm Stereo Audio Extractor Converter HDMI Audio Splitter Adapter(HDMI Input, HDMI + Digital/Analog Audio Output).

When watching these channels, the audio will start to get ahead of the video. This is not a consistent delay. It may start by just a few milliseconds, but can get as wide as several seconds. I can temporarily fix this by changing the auto format on the cable box/TV/ or sound bar. But it will go out of sync again within 30 minutes or faster.

Switch to the Arris version of the X1 box ( this seesm to fix 90% of the issues ) Add a powered HDMI splitter between the X1 cable box and the receiver. Use an optical sound cable for sound rather than run through HDMI and my favorite fix idea. Throw the X1 box out the window
Comcast sound cutting out - Polk Audio Forum

The sound through my Comcast cable cuts out sporadically missing a word here or there. Some channels being worse than others and some times of the day being worse than others. It's a similar sound to a CD skipping on a scratch. At it's worst it skips every 10-15 seconds. I don't see much of a resolution in that thread however.

The cable has not cut out for over 30 minutes so the issue appears resolved. What makes this so irritating is how frequently these issues occur. In this case, I did NOT reset my cable box like the automated system insisted I do. Clearly, this was a Comcast service issue.
