Answer 2 / 3 Grazer Apr 1, 2010 at 06:30 AM We recently had a similar problem - but only via the headphones. Remove the supplied sound card driver via add/remove programs, then reboot the laptop. At startup, it will use a generic driver for the sound and this should work without any problem. Don't reinstall the Compaq sound driver. Hope this helps,

It is possible that your sound / audio driver is not compatible. Problem with speakers/headphones on compaq 610 04-28-2017 01, 56 pm also i do have the version that you have put in the link above, i have checked and clicked on a link for the driver above and clicked download and nothing changed so i must have the same driver. On installation start-up it looks like the 610 changes the BIOS to disable the integrated audio. Through F10 on boot-up, I enabled the integrated audio and disabled the Nvidia HD audio. This fixed the problem and the integrated audio worked as before. It would be nice if this info. was in the documentation.
