1 There's an option in the PS2 menu that says something like "Audio out" and you can set to Optical or Component (or "Digital audio output " On, Off, I don't remember quite right), you could try that. If that doesn't work and the video comes fine out of the composite cable and the audio out of the optical, I suggest you just let it go.

Component cables don’t carry audio, only video. You have to use the A / V cords or optical cable. billstpor October 15, 2015, 3:10am #3 I don’t know what setup you got, but just because you don’t have an optical cable you are not forced to use the 3 a/v cables.

So perhaps the cables work fine, then. I'll see if I know anyone else with a TV I can test on, before I buy a different TV. It's just so deceiving to have component input on your TV which looks like it would work, but the TV resolution ends up not being supported.

Grab a piece of coax and a pair of compression RCA ends, install the ends and be done with it. If you just want to use up a component video cable because it's available, go ahead. If you have a piece of coax that was already terminated, get a pair of F-RCA adapters and put them on, plug it in and use that.
