1 There's an option in the PS2 menu that says something like "Audio out" and you can set to Optical or Component (or "Digital audio output " On, Off, I don't remember quite right), you could try that. If that doesn't work and the video comes fine out of the composite cable and the audio out of the optical, I suggest you just let it go.

I am using component cables on a older tv. I checked to see if the problem was the tv by using another tv with the component cables and even used a new set of cables from a previous xbox360. Still no sound just video. Brought the system over to a friends and try hdmi cable and I got video and sound.

Component cables don’t carry audio, only video. You have to use the A / V cords or optical cable. billstpor October 15, 2015, 3:10am #3 I don’t know what setup you got, but just because you don’t have an optical cable you are not forced to use the 3 a/v cables.

Input 3 or 4 is Component video (red green blue) also on the same input red and white for audio. Each input on your TV needs to have its own Audio and Video inputs. If you do not have Audio inputs with your Component video inputs you will need to get a stero or home theater reciever to do the sound for your DVD.
