DVD Audio extracter will tell you what format it's on on the disk. Ripping a 16bit file into 24bit will not improve the sound quality in ANY. It won't make it worse, (it literally only adds a bunch of 0s to the bit stream) but you will be wasting valuable hard drive space.

Regarding ripping multi-channel DTS-HD, you can do this. With DVD Audio Extractor, in the menu, set to "demusk" (if my memory and spelling are correct) as this will copy the actual tracks exactly as they are laid down on the blu ray disc. Also need to use AnyDVD HD. Then I can play the DTS-HD tracks on my JRiver PC media server.
