I deinstalled the Conexant Audio device in the Devicemanager an ticked the "remove driver" button. Afterwards i pressed on "check for new devices" and Windows 10 installed an generic driver. It is now installed as "High definition audio device" and works as it should.

Go to Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers and uninstall the Connexant device, deleting the driver files too. Then retry the update without rebooting. Should go through ok. If rebooted first, the driver will auto-reinstall and hang it again.
