as moresound said you need a different cable...a condensor mic like the one you bought will need phantom power to work, the m-audio does supply phantom power, but the cable does not. you'll need a standard XLR cable to connect the mic to the m-audio fast track and it should work wonders. an xlr cable should be able to be gotten for like $10-15 so its not …
