There is no real way to convert polyphony to midi accurately. There's overlapping tones/frequencies in every note so when you have a polyphonic recording there are so many variations it's very difficult to work with. That being said Melodyne is about the best I think you're gonna get at this point.

This video makes it look like Melodyne can detect polyphonic audio and convert it to midi no problem. At least for piano. Can anyone confirm if they do this on a regular basis? Really would like to be able to transform a bunch of piano improvisations into midi as I prefer to improvise away from my DAW. gregh Senior Member.

Re: Polyphonic Audio to MIDI? No software does this perfect but off all the software I have tried using for this melodyne has all ways given me the best result. You normally always need to clean up the midi and it works best on clean audio of single instruments without effects (the drier the reverb the better).
