Thanks, I'd already read that brief FAQ. I do correct out-of-sync sources (with AVIMUXGUI) before giving them to ConvertXtoDVD. So, if I do not want ConvertXtoDVD to interfere any further with my file because I've manually corrected the audio, I assume the answer is to 'check' the 'Dont check/fix audio discontinuities'?

There was an option in the Audio preferences 'Do not fix audio discontinuities' that you could select to test. If that doesn't help, try using FAVC for the conversion. If that also fails, suspect that the source files are the problem.
