To cure the problem click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select mixer. Then click the speakers icon under the device label then click the advanced tab. In the Default Format drop down box select 16 bit, 44100 Hz (Cd Quality) click test to check if ok. Sound was then all fine on my laptop. Report abuse 1 person found this reply helpful ·

Hello Since switching to windows 8 am having some real bad audio issues. When playing A Game Battlefield 3 My audio stutters and my FPS drops? So I started removing and updating drivers witch have made no difference. I have Asus Xonar DS sound card and my Motherboard on-board sound, I have disabled on-board in BIOS and I still get the issue.

Audio crackling issue are often caused by DPC issues. Please make a xperf trace or Run LatencyMon [1] to diagnostic the DPC issues. Please upload the xperf etl file to your SkyDrive [2] and post a link here if LatencyMon doesn't help you to find the causing driver. I'll take a look at it. André
