DIY Class-A Amplifier Here, I present a scalable, three stage, class-A amplifier with two differential gain stages and a differential, power buffer output stage. The third stage power buffer in this amplifier is unique in that it's Source pins are loaded with a bifilar wound choke (depicted in the second schematic down).

Build a Class-A Amplifier Audio Feb, 1977 by Nelson Pass In spite of their high cost and low efficiency, class A power amplifiers have recently been receiving more attention from audiophiles who demand uncompromising accuracy. Both the price and quality of these amplifiers result from the operation of their output stages in

Photograph 2: Super Class-A Amplifier Heatsink and PCB The enclosure work is all done by hand using aluminum. Channel sides, 3 mm top plate, 3 mm base plate. The heat sink is comprised of two pieces cut to size and is approx 420 x 180 x 35 mm. The fasteners are mainly countersunk stainless M5 or M3 stainless. Heat sinking was increased.

By looking at the schematic, the first stage using 2SK170 as source follower, much like a buffer stage , and directly feed into IRFP240, operate as a class A single ended amplifier with another IRFP240 as constant current source. The detail of whole design had been explained in FirstWatt page.

The bias was via a pot of 100K along with resistor of 1M. Care should be taken to adjust the pot only for so long as half of the DC gets over the load resistors and MOSFET. 2) Easiest Class A Amplifier The IRF511 (Q1) is wired like a most simple class-A audio-amplifier circuit, as shown in the figure below.

Well For transistor testing try looking up sound.au.com. Rod design a simple circuit to testing transistors in generally. The current can be set for small signal like the bc560 to 2A for the 2n3055. Well for the 2n3055 of hfe of 260 and 340 is quite high. Could be defect, i am not sure though. Well for my mj15003 hfe was only mere 40.
