The vacuum assembly was pretty easy. A 1.25" joint extension set can easily be cut to size (to fit through the side where the vacuum will attach) and a 1.25" slip nut has a nice foam washer on the inside the provides a snug fit with the vacuum adapter. Bilge pump hose is the perfect length and fits the VPI assembly and joint extension like a glove.

Having proved the concept of mult-record USC cleaning to my own satisfaction - as implemented in my DIY Ultrasonic RCM, documented here and here - I opted for a major upgrade. First, I switched from a 1 micron filter to a 0.35 micron filter. This required a taller filter cannister (same brand) and different filter. Very simple.

Judging by seeing how they work, you put distilled water on the vinyl, stick the little "tube" on the vinyl, let it go a couple of rotations, then lift it off and wipe away any excess dust with a carbon brush. You could make a little "tube" yourself most likely, as its seems like just a tube with bristles on each side of it.

This is what I use with my V.P.I. RCM. 3/4 gallon distilled water, 1/4 gallon 90% Isopropyl alcohol, few drops of Dupont Triton X-80 wetting agent. Works great for me. sushimaster,Mar 16, 2013 #2 MikeyHStamper King Location: Berkeley, CA It's more to do with technique than the fluids, I've found.

2. Steam cleaning LPs is viewed as a threat to the record cleaning machine (RCM) market, manufactures having invested in expensive advertising & machining for decades. In truth, RCM make little money in return for the investment. Its a fact RCM's cost hundreds to thousands retail more than steam units that sell for $50.00 or less.

Hello DIY dudes and dudettes. I found this forum a few months ago from the guys at AudioKarma, as I'm a member there too. I thought I'd share a little project with you guys and maybe you will find it useful yourself. I got back into spinning vinyl about 2 years ago. All this digital stuff nowadays just seemed to lose the magic of music for me.
