2002-02-14 9:19 pm. #6. Brian, I checked the data sheet for the TA2020 and it says the max voltage is 14.5v. So 13.8v is fine. When I figured the power needs for the chip, I was only doing one channel. The peak current draw would actually be 3*2=6amps. Sorry about the oversite.

There are many efficient speakers and brands that tend to be efficient, such as Klipsch. Many Klipsch will output 92+db/watt which is a significant increase over the monoprice ones. These types of speakers play just fine on a 5 watt tube amplifier because of their efficiency. The same is true if you use the tripath ta2020.
