MultiAVCHD can definitely extract the DTS core out of a DTS-HD audio track and I could use that DTS core track untouched and unconverted to stream via PS3 Media Server. But I don't get the benefits of a TRUE high definition audio sound track, which was the intent in the first place to convert to LPCM WITHOUT down-sampling or compression.

Right now I use Universal Media Server (much like PS3 Media Server) to stream to my PS3. I get DTS and AC3 audio just fine as the UMS encapsulates the DTS streams into LPCM 2.0 to trick the PS3, but once it hits my Denon 591 it gets decoded properly as DTS. The PS3 will not play DTS from files, only from authored optical discs. You can either author it to two AVCHD authored dual layer DVD blanks, or to a bluray blank. Otherwise you will have to convert the audio to AC3. I have tried streaming the file with DTS sound to my PS3 with PS3 Media Server without transcoding.

The PS3 only supports DTS audio when playback is via the optical drive (either DVD or Blu-Ray). When mkv2vob creates a video file and the DTS audio is transcoded, it is converted to LPCM and passed-through directly to a digital receiver (via optical or HDMI) where it is detected as DTS. In this situation, the PS3 does not see the audio as DTS.

PS3 can not play .dts (if .mkv has that) audio unless on physical disc. In the case you can re-encode .dts to .ac3 and then add .ac3 to original file while muxing to .m2ts. File will then have both audios and play everywhere.
