Just the OS, windowsXP is fine for a HTPC, a software mpeg decoder, a audio decoder perhaps, drivers and at last DVBViewer. Avoid multiple decoders. If you are in testing fase: use restore point. Deinterlacing can be done buy the TV or the mpeg decoder. Using both is not such a good idea.

No, as long as you only want to use the video codecs (PowerDVD comes also with it's own audio codecs and splitters) you don't need to register anything else. As for the "VideoFilterHVD" I'm not sure. This folder exists since PowerDVD 13. II already asked here in the forum but nobody seems to know.
