The problem stems from the fact that you have a hardware MPEG2 encoder card and Windows' VFW interface marks the incoming stream as a video stream, even though it has both audio and video multiplexed together. So VirtualDub doesn't recognize the audio. You're usually stuck with using the included software with that type of capture device.

After installing Nero Vision 5 aka Nero 8, then no sound. The answer is to upgrade your processor. I had a Athlon 2600 XP and upgraded to an Intel Dual Core 2.6GHz and reinstalled windows xp. Now nero vision 5 is working perfectly. An unanswered question remains, is it the reinstall of windows or the new processor.
