I right-clicked on a .wtv file (an ABC network show recorded off an antenna) and converted it to dvr-ms using Windows 7 Home Premium 64. The video is fine , but there is no audio--good audio in the original. Same probelm with a second conversion. I have successfully converted files this way in the past. System file checker found no problem.

Use the latest version of mplayer for playing dvr-ms files, link below. It will play dvr-ms files without a problem, however if you try and skip forward, the file will close. in other words to watch something you have to watch from the beginning to end. but both sound and video will play just fine. i use it all the time.

The dvr-ms files play in GBPVR and WatchHDTV, so I have to assume I have the proper codec.I guess my real question is how to get WMP11 to use this codec. I can live without it working in WMP11 but considering that DVR-MS is a MICROSOFT RECORDED file it has become my quest to make WMP11 play it.
